A very successful Scratch Choir workshop was held in February @ Broad Hinton Village hall. Organised by BROAD TOWN WI - 32 ladies (and some of their partners) enjoyed 2 hours of wonderful singing led by 3 enthusiastic scratch choir leaders - Linda Lee, Vicky Sweeney and Kate Rowe.
Without any auditions or much practice we were soon singing in wonderful harmony much to the surprise and delight of many of us. This really was singing for fun and was hugely inspiring. The songs were learnt by repetition - singing in groups with the guidance of voice leaders, and then we joined the groups together to sing the whole song. The repertoire ranged from Beach Boys, Phil Spector, African tribal, Russian and was a wonderful mix. A short break in the middle of the afternoon gave us time to enjoy some lovely WI cakes and a well-earned cup of tea.
A big thank you to Beatrice Brazier who coordinated the whole event and to our inspirational choir leaders from SWINDON SCRATCH CHOIR for a fantastic afternoon.
