Twelve years ago (from March 2009) Barbara Phillips and Roy Davey ran a project to open up the local paths and make them available for people to use and enjoy. Twelve years ago they published their results in a nice little booklet. Twelve years on we can make them available on the Internet.
The text and the maps are now twelve years old. Please feel free to report deviations from real life. It would be nice to keep them up to date.
It is lovely to have this historical view from ten years ago, but anyone using these directions may find they have to take a little 'artistic license' based on whatever conditions they find 'on the ground' Pay attention to the revision dates when you plan your walk! I have not personally 'road tested' them.
The original booklet said "To fully enjoy the walks use the new Ordnance Survey Explorer 157 map, Marlborough Downs and Savernake Forest"
