Update - January 2019

Volunteers needed!!

Link6&RWB is a Good Neighbour scheme which, for the past 10 years, has been providing a much needed service to residents of the villages of Bradenstoke, Broad Town, Bushton, Clyffe Pypard, Lyneham and Tockenham and RWB.  We are also supporting people in The Lydiards.

Due to recent increased demand we urgently need

to take people to medical appointments, social engagements, shopping etc.

Would you like to volunteer for something flexible for just a few hours a week?

If you are a car owner/driver with a few spare hours a week, we would love to hear from you. We cannot pay our volunteers, but we do reimburse mileage.

We also need

to answer the mobile phone and match our drivers to our clients’ requests – only  basic computer skills needed, and it is working from home, a few hours a day for around one week per month on a rota basis. Ideal for somebody who can’t get out much, who would like more social interaction and do something worthwhile.

You would be making a real difference to people’s lives!

Please call us on 07879 394666

Update - June 2016

Link6 & RWB provides essential transport and support to people in need in the villages  of Bradenstoke, Broad Town, Bushton, Clyffe Pypard, Lyneham, Tockenham & the town of Royal Wootton Bassett.

We have been going for over 6 years, and have had the support of many local volunteers, but we are now reaching crisis point.

Can you help?

We need a volunteer who is available approximately one week in four.

You will need to take calls from our clients and then find one of our volunteers who is able to take the job.
Our switchboard is open 10-4 Monday to Friday, but you are not expected to sit by the phone all day.

It is ideal for somebody who is at home a lot, but can still use a phone and a computer.

Please think hard about this, we need somebody in place mid July, full training given.

Update - 15Nov2013 - Thinking of a New Year’s Resolution for 2014?

LINK6 & RWB Good Neighbour Scheme has a great suggestion for you.

Why not consider giving a few hours a month to help local people in need?

We are short of volunteers with cars, and would also welcome somebody to join us as a Co-ordinator.

Update November 2014

Looking for something different to give somebody this Christmas?

How about the gift that keeps on giving?

Our LINK6 volunteers are looking for some new people to join us.

We provide a much valued Good Neighbour service to people in our community who need that extra little bit of help with their daily lives.

We take people for medical appointments, social events, hairdressers, shopping.

We may be able to tackle the odd job like a bit of sewing or putting up some curtains.

Or just sitting with somebody for an hour or reading to them.

Can you spare a few hours a month? There is no regular commitment.

Link 6 - Good Neighbour Scheme

Link 6 is a GOOD NEIGHBOUR SCHEME for people who need a little help from time to time. The sort of things we can do include driving to and from hospital appointments, hairdresser, or shopping. We can also take you for a walk, come and have a chat or read to you, maybe change a light bulb or sew a hem. There is no predefined list; if you have a need, we will see what we can do to help.
We also run SOCIAL EVENTS every couple of months. These include such things as a garden party, film shows, Christmas Party, trips to garden centres.
Our aim is to complement other services already in existence, such as Connect and Social services, your family and friends.
Anybody who has a need can request our service - there is no age limit; we will however undertake a basic assessment of need. Sometimes the need is temporary , e.g. if you have broken your arm and cannot drive, we may be able to help for a few days until you get a more permanent arrangement in place. We are all CRB checked so we can work with old and young alike.
Link 6 receives core funding to enable the service to exist, but that is not enough to pay for everything. We invite people who use the service to make a voluntary donation via a brown envelope. You pay what you can afford, or what you think the service is worth.
You call our phone line 01249 892558 between the hours of 10.00 am and 4.00 pm. You may get the answerphone as we do not permanently man the phone. We would ask for 48 hours’ notice at least, as we need to try to match a volunteer to your request. We cannot guarantee that we will always be able to assist, but we will do our level best.
We are looking for committee members (not a very arduous task) and also volunteers. Volunteers can specify how much (or little) time they have available to help and will have to undergo a CRB check. You don’t have to be a car driver to be a volunteer, but if you do have a car and a clean driving licence, we would love to hear from you. Potential volunteers should contact Allison Bucknell on 01793 854421.
Update - Feb 2013

LINK 6 and RWB Good Neighbour Scheme offers ad hoc help and support to people in need, either temporary or longer time, who live in and around Royal Wootton Bassett.

We offer our volunteers a unique opportunity to give their time on their own terms, so if you only want to offer an hour or two now and again, we would still love to hear from you.

Our clients ask us to do all sorts of things, from changing a light bulb, going with them to the hospital, going for a walk, a trip to the hairdressers, collecting a prescription, taking a pet to the vet.

We never know what is going to come up next, but what we do know is that everything we do is valued greatly by those we help.

We do not charge a fee, but invite donations. Volunteers will be paid out of pocket expenses.

To help us to grow this service, we need more volunteers, both to work with our clients, and particularly we need some people who are based from home to act as co-ordinators, taking calls from clients and finding one of our volunteers who can help out.

If you would like to volunteer, or think you might be eligible to use our service, please look on the web http://link6andrwb.btck.co.uk/ or phone 07879 394666.

We look forward to hearing from you.

EXTEND is a keep fit class for those  over 60 or less able. We meet in Lyneham Village Hall 10-11 on a Friday morning and St Bart’s Church Hall, Rope Yard, RWB 2-3 on a Friday afternoon. We do gentle exercise to music and have a good laugh as well, but we could do with a few more members in the class. Sessions are only £2.50. To find out more, please contact Allison Bucknell on 01793 854421.
