REVEREND ALISON WAY
Stewardship and thanksgiving
During September and October in the churches across the benefice of Woodhill, we will be continuing our focus on thanksgiving, which started with the marking of Lammastide. We will be looking at our individual and community stewardship of our resources. This is based on an initiative called the ‘The Money Revolution’ which was commissioned by the Archbishop of York and written by John Preston. He applys Christian principles to our understanding of giving, thanksgiving and stewardship and I am sure it will be interesting and thought-provoking. We will consider the following five principles in our worship
- Everything belongs to God
- Being active stewards of the resources God puts in our care
- Living within our resources
- Building up treasure in heaven
- Giving generously
A natural part of this focus, will of course, be our annual celebrations of the Harvest, and I look forward to seeing many of you at our annual harvest suppers and tea, and harvest festival services. For your diaries our harvest festivals will be as follows: -
- Sun 4th October 9:15am Family Harvest Communion at St Lawrence’s, Hilmarton
- Sun 4th October 11:00am Family Harvest Communion at St Peter’s, Clyffe Pypard
- Sun 4th October 6pm Harvest Songs of Praise at Christchurch, Broad Town
- Sun 18th October 9:15am Family Harvest Communion at St Giles’, Tockenham
If you would like to suggest a harvest hymn (and the reasons why that one is special to you) or to share a harvest story for our ‘Songs of praise’ service at Christchurch, Broad Town, please get in touch with Janet Drury on 01793 850931 or drury.janet@btinternet.com by September 27th 2009. We will be happy to read your story or reasons for picking a hymn for you if you would not be happy to speak at the service itself.
Greetings and the love of Christ to you all in the benefice of Woodhill (formerly the benefice of Broad Town, Clyffe Pypard, Hilmarton and Tockenham).
Rev’d Alison Way - 01793 739044 – The Vicarage, Wood Street, Clyffe Pypard, Wilts, SN4 7PY alisonway@tiscali.co.uk

On the second weekend of June next year we will be holding our second Scarecrow competition. We are hoping to persuade some of the gardeners of the village to open their gardens to the public at the same time. We know that there are some lovely gardens in the village of all shapes and sizes. We do not know who you all are personally, so please do not be shy. If you are willing to open your garden that weekend please contact Margaret Green on 731511.
BROAD TOWN VILLAGE HALL
Broad Town Village Hall Management Committee is concerned that a number of people are parking in the Village Hall car park without permission. The Village Hall car park is private property, for the use of those hiring the Hall or attending a function at the Hall. Only those using the Village Hall, or those with express permission to park, will be covered by their insurance. Vehicles using the car park without permission are uninsured and this poses a serious risk to all users. We ask for your co-operation in not parking on private property without permission.
PARISH PLAN STEERING GROUP
Many thanks to all of you who took the time to complete the recent Parish Plan questionnaire. We have had a fantastic response which will give us the evidence to communicate the opinions and feelings of the Parish with conviction when we write the plan. We are now in the process of analysing all the responses, which we're sure, you'll appreciate, is going to be a lengthy task. Once this is completed you will be invited to an open meeting where we will present the findings and agree the next steps with you.
So do watch out for our next communication.
THE GUILD OF WILTSHIRE ARTISTS
Run workshops at the Village Hall on every third Saturday of the month from 10am to 4pm. All are welcome including painters who are beginners.

Help will be given to those who request it.
