HELD ON MONDAY 12th OCTOBER 2009

Present: Cllr R. Bourton, Chairman, Cllrs S. Billis, J. Brain, N. Crocker, Mrs J. Newman, J. Pullen and Mrs V. Stubbings.

Two members of the public

Public Questions. Note was taken of questions, and dealt with under Parish Matters.

The minutes of the meeting held on 14th September 2009 were signed as being a true record.

Planning

1. There were no objections to 09/01547. Erection of a garage at 61 Hill View, Broad Town Road.

2. Note was taken of the amendment to 09/01092. Idovers, Broad Town Road.

3. 09/01737. Buildings at Broad Town Road Farm. Conversion of Existing Buildings to Dwelling. The PC was in agreement that development of this site would be beneficial, but considered that the wall of the present building facing the road was an eyesore, and it would be preferable if this building could be demolished and a new dwelling erected, set further back from the road. This would be a great improvement in the appearance of the area.

Finance

4. Payment of £72.45 to Playsafety for playgroung inspection was noted.

5. Payment of £33.06 to Bassett Signs for play area sign was noted.

6. A cheque for £169.15, payable to Sodexho for grass cutting, Redhills, was raised.

7. The addition of the following Councillors' names to the bank authorisation was approved: Cllrs Billis, Crocker amd Mrs J. Newman.

Parish Matters

8. Redhills. It was brought to the attention of the Parish Council that the sign recently erected limiting the age of children using the area with the play equipment had been misconstrued, and that older children using the playing field quite legitimately were being told to keep off. It was felt a pity that these people did not act against the children who had caused so much trouble in the past. It was also noted that children as young as 13 years of age were drinking Vodka and engaging in sexual activity in the area. This is a police matter, and as the parents did not seem to be aware of this, the local police officer will be advised. Further, it is felt that anybody witnessing this behaviour should notify the police. Following prolonged discussion, it was agreed that the Clerk is to produce a flier to be delivered to all houses at Redhills confirming that the sign only applies to the small area containing the play equipment, not to the whole field, and that any unsociable behaviour should be reported to the police. The flier will contain contact details.

9. Cllr Stubbings gave a resume of recent activities of the Area Board, including the ongoing discussion concerning the correct title.

The next meeting will be on 9th November 2009.
